Lakeville Classic

The Classic was a great success!  The weather was fantastic and our volunteers were top notch.   A BIG thank you to everyone that supported our field and concession work.  We couldn’t have done it without you!

Winning Teams!

Congratulations to our Lakeville teams.  The following teams placed in their tournaments last weekend:

• 12U Lightning- 1^st Place Edina Mayfly
• 12U Thunder- 1^st Place Lakeville Classic
• 10U Lightning- 2^nd Place Edina Mayfly

Congratulations to our players and coaches.  A great start to the season!
 
Volunteer Program Q&A

With the season kicking off we have been getting some additional questions on the volunteer program.  Hopefully this offers some clarity, but please keep the questions coming!

• Are there enough hours for all of the families?  We will have more than enough hours to go around.  We have over 1300 hours planned for all of the activities this season.  Those numbers exceed the required number of hours and families we have within LFSA.
• What did we do before to fill these hours?  Volunteer support was requested informally and we also hired out much of the work.
• What will we do with the funds we save by having the families volunteer?  We will put the funds towards field improvements, dugouts, improved training opportunities and new equipment for all levels.
• Why do Coaches need to volunteer above and beyond their coaching commitment?  Given the number of hours needed to support the Association we need Coaches, Board members and Team Managers to participate in the program.
• Who can volunteer?  Anyone over 14 years old that is able to fulfill the needs of the shift.
• What opportunities are available during the year?  There are many opportunities:  Spring Try-Outs, Field Days, Lakeville Classic, Grand Slam and Fall State Tournaments, and Fall Try-Outs.  We may be adding a few additional tournaments, like the Cat Classic, hosted at Aronson in the future.  Each opportunity will be posted about 3 weeks in advance of the event.

New! Volunteer Opportunities

The Lakeville Grand Slam opportunities are now posted! This is our biggest event of the season!  We will host 70 teams from 3 states and 2 countries at 2 Lakeville locations.  Volunteer opportunities are now posted for over 200 shifts.  Thanks in advance for your support!

• Family members, 14 years old and above, can fulfill your family hours. 
• If you are bringing 2 family members, sign up for 2 slots.  You only get credit for the slots and hours that you officially sign up for.
